Essential information

 

The walk is being held on 25th June 2011 and all walkers should report to Pinkery at 07:00 hrs prompt for administration and briefing before a 07:30 hrs start.  Most walkers tend to finish mid afternoon to late afternoon.

 

Where to stay

Self-catering bunk-house accommodation may be available at Pinkery, and must be booked with the Head of Centre, Dave Huxtable, Pinkery Exploration Centre, Simonsbath, Minehead, Somerset, TA24 7LL (tel: 01643 831437).

 

Alternative facilities are available at the Youth Hostels at Exe Mead, Exford, Minehead (0870 770 5828) and Alcombe Combe, Minehead (0870 770 5968).

Drinks, BBQ & toilets

All checkpoints will have water and squash available free of charge.

 

You will also be able to refuel at the Perambulation BBQ available at the half-way checkpoint - Pickedstones Lane.  Hot drinks will also be available please bring some money with you for this.

 

Hot and cold drinks will be available for participants at the end of their walk at Pinkery at no charge.

 

Toilet facilities are available at Pinkery the (start/finish) and the Pickedstones Lane checkpoint.

 

First Aid

Provided by St. John Ambulance and Exmoor Search and Rescue Team.

 


Dog walkers

Dogs are permitted to walk (for free!) but owners must ensure that they are a) fit enough to comfortably make the distance, b) are under control at all times and c) always on a lead at in enclosed farming areas.

 

Essentials

Stout footwear should be worn, trainers may be preferred for the road walk. You or your group leader should be proficient in map reading and compass work.

 

Please ensure that your equipment is in good condition. We reserve the right to carry out spot checks for your own safety and, if necessary, refuse entry on the day.
